EDUCATION

Dr. Michael J. Denk, a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine, completed a General Surgery Internship and Residency at S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo in 1991. He completed a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1994. A Fellowship at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at New York University completed his medical training in 1995. He has been Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1997. Dr. Denk left behind a thriving 4-1/2 year practice in Western New York to relocate to Hampton Roads in 2000.

Dr. Denk's special interests include: breast surgery, cosmetic surgery and pediatric plastic surgery. He has written numerous articles for scientific journals and chapters for medical books, as well as produced a series of educational videos which Operational Smile currently uses. Dr. Denk is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School and is actively involved in medical student education.

In his leisure time, Dr. Denk enjoys golf and gardening. The Denk family, which includes three young boys, is happy to be further south surrounded by both warm people and warm weather.
