Jonathan S. Jacobs M.D., D.M.D., F.A.C.S.
PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS
EDUCATION
Dr. Jacobs completed The University of Rochester in 1968 and attended
Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he graduated cum laude in
1971. He then completed medical school, a combined residency in
oral and maxillofacial surgery and trained in general surgery at
Vanderbilt University from 1971 through 1975. He remained at Vanderbilt
as the Acting Chairman of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial
Surgery until 1977 when he moved to Virginia Beach to complete a
residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Eastern Virginia
Graduate School of Medicine. He has published 46 scientific papers
and book chapters and has contributed substantially to the medical
literature.
He is active in both local and national plastic surgical organizations.
He is Past President of the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons,
and he is Past President of the Virginia Society of Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgeons. He is the Membership Chairman of The American
Society of Temporomandibular Joint Surgeons, and he has served on
the Board of Directors for The American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgeons. He is Board Certified in both Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and concurrently acts as
a guest examiner for The American Board of Plastic Surgeons. Locally,
he also volunteers as an interviewer for candidates for admission
to Eastern Virginia Medical School and is Chairman of the Surgical
Executive Committee at Sentara Leigh Hospital. His current interests
are in cosmetic and breast surgery, and he brings special expertise
to Associates in Plastic Surgery in regard to maxillofacial surgery.
