Browlift
The position of the eyebrows plays a significant role in non-verbal communication as well as affecting the attractiveness of the human face. With aging, the position of the outer portion brows tends to migrate. A low or sagging brow sends the message that one is angry, tired or sad. An attractive female brow is characterized by an arched shape with the highest point of the brow being in the portion of the brow closer to the temple. The brow lift procedure corrects sagging brows and reduces wrinkles of the forehead. It also helps to lessen the skin of the upper eyelids. Upper eyelid surgery is often performed simultaneously.
A brow lift can be done with an incision that extends across the hairline of the forehead or well up into the hairline. It also can be done endoscopically with a few small incisions above the hairline. In our practice, the majority are done with the endoscope, which allows for smaller incisions.
Recovery is relatively rapid. Discomfort is moderate and analgesics are usually not needed after the first postoperative week. Return to work is usually possible within 1 to 2 weeks.
